GETTING THERE
Getting to Christmas in July Canberra is easy—but a little planning goes a long way.
We strongly recommend using public transport where possible, with several bus routes stopping just a short walk from the festival site at Patrick White Lawns.
If you're driving, please note that Patrick White Lawns is a very small car park with limited access and can fill quickly, often causing delays on entry and exit.
For a smoother arrival, we recommend parking at one of the larger nearby options and walking in:
- National Library of Australia
- Regatta Point / Commonwealth Park Parking
- City West / Civic Parking (Parkes Way side)
Once parked, it’s just a short stroll to the festival.
Winter tip: Rug up! Think coats, scarves, beanies and yes—ugly Christmas jumpers are highly encouraged. The festival runs rain or shine (only pausing for severe weather), so come prepared for a magical winter experience whatever the forecast.
Plan ahead, arrive early, and enjoy the festivities stress-free.
Travel Notice (4–6 July)
Please note that Light Rail Stage 2A construction works will be taking place from Saturday 4 July to Sunday 5 July, which may impact your journey to the festival.
During this time, light rail services will be replaced by buses between Gungahlin Place and Alinga Street, and there will be temporary road closures, lane reductions, and some pedestrian detours around Northbourne Avenue and Civic.
We recommend allowing extra travel time, following on-ground signage, and checking Transport Canberra updates ahead of your visit.
